Torcs worn on both arm and neck were some of the most important pieces of jewelry worn by the ancient Celts and other peoples. Celtic warriors, both men and women, paraded in their torcs (with nothing else but maybe some blue dye) before battle to awe their opponents. Champions of one on one combats took the spoils so a torc of great value was a statement of prowess: "I am valiant enough to wear this, are you strong enough to take it away?"
